Settings for Everyone Question
« on: Aug 07, 2014, 02:02:18 PM »

I have a question which requires support. Is there a specific folder, oh Mel of Pinksparkles or any other ads or mods, in which we can just submit tons of settings for private reference or for anyone to use in their writing or play? Because I have more stuff I want to submit than is safe to call a fuckton over the next indeterminate amount of time. kthxbai

You've come to the right place for questions! Check out the In Character forums, From the City, and then the form called Establishments & Businesses. It's a great forum for posting settings!

Second, check out the New Members link above in the top menu, and try the Knowlege Base! If I remember correctly, we have a section for RhyDin settings where members can add articles! Hope that helps!
You own a rock. It's a rock with a symbol on it. Nobody is sure what it does.    Light, flexible, and handy for the acrobatic types.    A versatile vegetable for cakes, stews, meals and rabbits.    RhyDin's finest home made brew. Random and questionable contents which all lead to the same thing: getting stupefied drunk. Warning label reads: May cause fire breathing, murderous rampages, embarassing confessions, illusions of grandeur, overly affectionate thoughts and gut rot. Drink at your own risk.    A heavy long steel shield, enchanted with nature and shaped to resemble a leaf. The shield is said to be able to cloak the bearer in forested areas three times a day.    Madam Curio's specialty potion. One potion can restore either a tiny tidbit of health, stamina, mana (magic), strength, dexterity, perceptions or intelligence with one draw back: the effect is random and the drinker has no idea which will be bolstered.   A steel shuriken, or throwing star. Easily concealed, these weapons can be thrown or hidden in the palm for slashing or puncturing.    A deep green ring carved from spinel. Engraved are shapes of twisting vines that seem to reach out. This ring is ensorcelled to allow the wearer to cast Tangling Vines, a spell to trap a target, twice a day.   A necklace with the mummified claw of a supposed harpy. It is said the necklace may grant the wearer feather fall once a day.    This health potion is enough to restore light wounds (cuts, bruises, knock outs.) It may be enough to keep serious wounds together long enough to seek medical attention...but it isn't recommended for near-death health issues.    A splendid long cloak dyed as black as a starless night. To keep a body warm or to keep them hidden in the shadows?

Is there a folder for settings outside the city or whatever in the other major folders as well? I just want to like, brainvomit into all of the areas everywhere and give people places to do stuff if they want to. :)

If your setting fits in any of the major forums, go for it! We even have Through the Portal for stories not on Rhydin! And of course, you can add as many settings as you like to our Knowledge Base too!

I'm going to piggy-back my question here off Skid's.

I know we have player created rooms for when some settings don't fit in with what we're wanting to play, and that's beyond freaking awesome.  However, if something really unforeseen happens, there's no logs.

What about a general use room, maybe "That One Place" or something equally generic, for public/logged play that doesn't sit with the site rooms already made?

Just a thought/maybe!

Thanks in advance,
-J-
It's pretty much like a green pepper. Only...it's yellow!    Popular in the summer, a sweet, light, watery fruit with black seeds.    A thick, shimmering silver bracelet with tiny acorns. The acorns hold tiny clappers, making each movement of the wrist sound as if it was tinkling water. It's pretty much like a green pepper...only red. Some say red peppers are sweeter and have a different taste than green or yellow.    A green apple, sweet and tart. Perfect for baking or snacking on.    An odd, spiky plant with bitter outer skin and useless green top--but magnificently sweet and flavorful inside that makes a great snack and juice; possibly a weapon.   A tasty and fun-gi. Mushrooms can be added to any food, cooked or raw. This one does not come with hallucinations or poisons.    A trout grilled on a stick over a fire until it is crispy and golden. Lightly sprinkled with sea salt and cracked pepper.    Sweet, crunchy vegetable good for sides, salads and more.    A versatile vegetable for cakes, stews, meals and rabbits.    Oblong, yellow food that should be peeled before eating sweet insides. Also great for comedy.    Acorns are bitter--but can sustain any traveler desperate for food. Or grow your very own tree!    It's a strawberry. A single strawberry. It's rather tasty.    One fabulously soft, ripe pear. Don't leave it in a backpack or it'll turn into mush!   Delicious grapes, small, round objects of sweetness. A great snack no matter the circumstances. Although, once you eat these, you'll have to get more.
You done bumped your head.

I would be totally down with that!....But (butt, a big butts) if there were more people using the chat room. Currently we have 5 chat rooms and Kaos Coffee as well as the Lounge are basically the only rooms being used right now. There's a lot of settings you can do in Delver's Hall as well as the Catacombs, and Brazen (for the darker stuff) and O'Cleary's (in my humble non-admin player opinion) offer the need for an inn or bar.

These are all great places that log awesomely, and I think for now, until we see a greater outcry for a more neutral setting (I am totally not dismissing your suggestion! I will definitely remember it for the future! I'm not saying NO NEVER, I'm saying, "Maybe not right now?") we should utilize what we have.

I hope that made sense and wasn't offensive!

Totally did, and totally wasn't!  Thanks for the quick, and well considered reply.  <3
